U14'S CUP HMW 3 OTLEY 1

A very good performance today from both teams provided an entertaining match for both sets of spectators. A vastly improved Otley team made the Hemsworth girls work hard for their win in the opening round of the cup.

Otley were the first to score with a goal from the close range finish that gave Siobhan little chance to save.
Hemsworth carried on playing good football with plenty of missed opportunities on goal, the result at half time was HMW 0 Otley 1.

The second half was as exciting as the first with good strong football from both sides, Then HMW levelled the score with a fantastic long ball from Chazzie to Chels who took it down the wing and cut in front of the goal to beat the keeper with Hemsworth's first goal. The Hemsworth Girls then started to pile on the pressure with Chloe making some excellent runs down the right wing, Georgi having 2 good shots at goal and 2 well placed corners were delivered by Chazzie, but the girls failed to get on the end of them.

HMW's second goal followed Chelsea running the length of the wing to beat the keeper but hitting the post, Kelly responded quickly throwing herself at the ball and pushing it into the goals with 2 feet before ending in the back of the net herself.
Jodie and Nicky were very strong at the back and in mid field, Otley kept on battling to the end and by no means was the game over until the final whistle, as they created chance after chance only to be foiled by Chaz and Siobhan on the goal line.

In the final 10 minutes the Otley goalie didn't manage a goal kick too well, which allowed Amy to intercept the ball and smash it past the retreating keeper from outside the box, to give HMW a 3-1 victory.

Good football and 100% effort produced from all the players today-
Siobhan, Chazzie, Becky, Nicky, Jodie, Georgi, Chloe, Tiff, Chels, Amy, Kelly, Katie and Ebony.

Goals :- Chels, Kelly and Amy.

U15's Middleton Park 0 HMW 15

Hemsworth continued their winning streak this season with a 15 nil win against Middleton this weekend. Hemsworth started slowly but began to turn that around when Kayleigh Fitzpatrick made a good run into the penalty area to score her first goal of the season from a good cross in. This was great for Kayleigh's confidence and she finished the game with a much deserved hat-trick.
The score was 4 nil at half time and the girls returned with determination and energy.
The girls kept pushing forward with some good passing and movement improving as the game went on. Jade Moore was excellent on the left hand side making some good runs putting fine crosses in and bagging herself her 4 super goals!
Middleton never let their heads drop and kept trying to push forward when they had the ball. Despite not creating many chances they showed a great attitude and excellent spirit!
Hewsworth were constantly on the attack with Brogan and Micky controlling the midfield with some excellent ball control and passing.
The amount of goals scored allowed the girls to try out different positions and give Briony who is suffering with a long term ankle injury an opportunity to be Goal keeper in the second half. The score also allowed well earned rests for Jade, Brogan, Kayleigh and Micky.
Although defence were never really under pressure when the girls had the ball they made super use of it.
I would like to congratulate the team on a fabulous start to the season and I look forward to the rest of the year!
The goal scorers were:
Jade -4
Kayleigh - 3
Macayla - 2
Micky - 1
Giggs - 1
Brogan - 1
Chelsea - 1
Paige - 1
Briony - 1

Rothwell 1 HMW U14's 1

Hemsworth were slow to get into their game and were beaten to the ball by the Rothwell Team on many occasions. As a result Rothwell started to dominate the first half and put the Miner's defence and goalie under pressure. Despite the slow start Hemsworth held off Rothwell comfortably as the defence of Chaz, Becky and Jodie held strong and Siobhan making some good saves.
The result at half time was 0 -0.

The second half changed around completely with Hemsworth on the attack this time, dominating the attacks with some good effort at the goal from Amy, Chels and Kelly. Eventually the pressure resulted in a well taken goal as a crossed ball found Kelly on the end of the box, who held up the ball well before feeding it to new girl Ebony who slotted the ball home for a her first goal of the season.

Rothwell got back into the match when a shot was palmed onto the crossbar by Siobahn and as she went for the rebound a Rothwell player got there first, the ball hitting her upper arm and rebounding into the net. The referee allowed the goal to stand to give a final result of 1 all.
