U14's cup quarter final -Batley 4 HMW 3

A fantastic performance from the Hemsworth girls today against the current top of the league team, Batley.

The Hemsworth underdogs were in a determined mood and fairly confident with some of the tactical changes that had been put into place to try and upset their opponents game.
Batley were the first to find the net but not until about 15 minutes into the game, Hemsworth battled on keeping their composure and keeping focused on the game plan.
Hemsworth did have a good percentage of the ball and 2 goals were to follow from Eb (off a Batley player) and Jodie responding to a fine corner from Chaz, hit the second goal to take a 1-2 lead.
The second half was as firey as the first with HMW extending their lead to 1-3 with a super free kick from Chaz which was met by the Batley keeper but the pace and direction of the ball deceived her.
Batley never took the foot off the gas and fought their way back with 2 good goals to equalise the score and push for extra time.
Within the first half of extra time Batley scored the winning goal from a free kick, but the Hemsworth girls still battled till the end with a couple of breaks which came to nothing.
100% performance came from each and every player on the pitch and as usual good spirit from both teams resulted in a fantastic game which people would pay good money to see!!
Good luck to Batley in the Cup as Hemsworth now compete in the Shield.

U14's - St Josephs 4 HMW 3

After a long delay the match finally kicked off and Hemsworth went straight into the attack within 10 minutes Chelsea had raced down the wing and crossed to Kellys feet for her to push the ball past the keeper. Shortly afterwards a strong shot from Jodie hit the post for Katie to follow up and see cleared off the line before Kelly managed to steer the ball into the net for Hemsworths second goal.

At this point Hemsworth looked to be in control but then St. Josephs started to fight to get themselves back into the game with some tricky high balls that were mistimed by the defence to allow St. Josephs not only to get back into the game but to take the lead leaving Hemsworth trailing by 4 goals to 2. HMW stayed composed with Chloe making a great run down the right and hitting a good shot that just missed the top corner of the net minutes before the half time whistle.

Playing downhill in the second half and away from the blinding sun, the girls were still confident but St Josephs tactically put everyone behind the ball to try and hold out for the 3 points.
Several attempts were made on the St Josephs goals but went narrowly wide of the post.
Nicky took on 2 of her opponents out on the wing to provide an excellent cross for Kelly to claim her first hat trick of the season.

The muddy pitch became slippier and the chance of Hemsworth clawing their way back slipped away too.

Midfield failing to track back and help the defence needs to addressed, not following up the balls and pressurising the keeper, and failing to make contact with the easy balls provided from the corners were all missed opportunities today.

An exciting match with especially good performances from Tiff, Jodie, Chaz and Linsey and a big cheer to Kelly for her hat trick.

U14's HMW 5 WIGTON MOOR 5

Hemsworth gave a gutsy performance today against a very good team of whom they lost against in a previous match. They fought their way to a draw having been 2-4 down in the second half.

Wigton opened the scoring early on then Chelsea for Hemsworth calmly run onto a crossed ball from Jodie to push it past the advancing keeper.

Wigton retaliated to take a 2-1 lead, then again at the other end of the field Tiff took a quick throw to Nicky who then sent an excellent cross for Katie to knock into the net.

The score remained at 2 all at the half time whistle.
Wigton came out in the second half determined and displayed some excellent passing football which rewarded them with 2 more good goals to take a 4-2 lead against the home team.
Hemsworth did not let their heads drop and kept focused on winning the ball. A corner from Chazzie curled into the goal to give Hemsworth their 3rd goal, then soon after Amy ran onto a through ball smashing it into the corner of the net to even the score to 4 all. The play was literally end to end and in the last 5 minutes another through ball, this time from Nicky, was chased by Kelly and blasted into the net.
Hemsworth at this point only needed to hold off the away team to secure a win but the determined Wigton team broke away to level the score for a 5 all draw in the last few minutes of the game.

U15's HMW 2 Silsden 2

A nail biting match to watch with both teams being pretty even on performance levels today.
Silsden started out the stronger team initially with some pretty impressive saves from Chelsea and fantastic solid defending from Sammy, these two kept Hemsworth in the game for most of the first half until the team gelled and found their momentum.
Silsden were the first to score, then Hemsworth retaliated with an equaliser which was actually classed as an own goal but not taking the credit away from Jade, who ran the length of the wing and shot from an angle aiming for the bottom corner. The ball was on course to go a little wide but the Silsden defender got her foot to it and the ball deflected into the net.
The score at half time was 1 all.

Hemsworth came out the stronger team in the second half and Jess did an excellent job of tactically marking Silsden's main striker, taking her out of the game for the majority of the second half.
Mickey received a through ball out on the wing before rounding her opponent to smash the ball at the goal, Kayleigh was quick to respond by running to meet the ball and knocking it past the keeper.
Hemsworth kept hold of the lead, with Jade pressurising the defenders time after time. Silsden responded with high balls over the top for their attackers to chase, but only to be snuffed out by Jess, Sam T and goalie Chelsea who was very dominant and confident in the whole of the goal area. Finally in the last few minutes the away team got lucky to even the score line.

U14's - Batley Heat 7 HMW 0

Hemsworth played some good football in the first half with chances on goal from Nicky, Chels, Amy and Kelly but unfortunately the ball failed to make contact with the net!!
Hemsworth had a good percentage of posession on the ball and looked as though they were going to give the home team a good game.
Linzi fresh from her holiday had a storming game in defence and Tiff, Jodie and George battled well in mid field.
The score at half time was 3-o but the girls still remained optimistic and the fact that they were going to be shooting down hill in the second half gave encouragement that they could pull back a couple of goals.
However this was not the case, Batley scored a fourth goal and at that point the majority of the Hemsworth girls stopped running and fighting for posession and virtually handed Batley the next 3 goals on a plate.
Chazzie again delivered easy balls from the corners but no one attempted to get on the end of, communication between players broke down and mistakes were made.
Siobhan having been virtually redundant last year made some good saves and confidence is growing each match.
