Georgina was acting as captain today and did a superb job, dominating the central area. The first half was an evenly played match with Hemsworth sticking to their planned tac tics, however a shot from Chloe was patted out by the goalie, and well positioned Amy, calmly hit the ball passed the keeper and into the net.
Some good thinking football was demonstrated today with Becky doing a lovely job of clearing the ball right off the line as Nic got drawn out to deal with a corner. Amy, Katie and Leah did a nice 1 touch sequence which nearly paid off, and Nic made some fantastic saves.
We went into half time with a 1-0 lead and feeling very confident.
Rothwell came back fighting in the second half and challenged our defence and tired legs, this resulted in three goals one after the other leaving the home team feeling disappointed.
Although the girls were dis-heartened with the loss it is a huge improvement from last season when Rothwell beat us 7-0 and 8-1, the manager himself said todays match was a "Fantastic team performance".
Player of the match was Georgina Akeroyd with Leah Pearson putting in a strong performance.
